    Current COVID-19 Case Numbers in North Dakota: (+52 from 4/3) 225 total, 74 recovered
    Speakers: Governor Burgum

    Focus: Following CDC guidelines and testing: ND has not mandated a stay-at-home/shelter-in-place order and does not want to unless necessary

    Additional points of note:

    • Unemployment Claims: 2,787 yesterday; 37,794 total
    • Stats: ND 10th in nation for rate of testing, 48th in the nation for positive case percentage (only lower is AK and HI)
    • Executive Orders:
      • Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will be ordered to self-quarantine for a period of no less than 14 days from the testing date. Also, family and other household members will also be ordered to self-quarantine for the same time period.
      • Visitation in North Dakota long term care facilities, including skilled nursing facilities and basic care facilities, will be suspended except for end-of-life or compassionate care circumstances. All non-essential services will be suspended until further notice.
    • Independent contractors, gig workers and self-employed should look into the CARES Act. Check FAQs on the SBA website
    • Federal government assurance of availability of an additional $600 for unemployment claimants
    Other issues covered: Discussed mental health and stress, Operation Drive-In, a success, could be replicated with Tribal Nations, 2600 hospital beds in ND - only 19 are being currently used for COVID-19 cases
