The discussion will provide an overview of the new AP Business Principles and Personal Finance course, including the strategy for statewide deployment and the role of Work-Based Learning Coordinators in connecting education to industry needs.
Speakers will examine workforce readiness strategies through a SWOT analysis, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and policy considerations shaping North Dakota’s talent pipeline.

Director Wayde Sick and Jessica DeVaal
WAYDE SICK - has more than 20 years of experience in education and workforce development. He joined the ND Department of Commerce’s Workforce Division in 2012 and was named State Director of Career and Technical Education in 2018. Previously, he held leadership roles at the Burdick Job Corps Center in Minot. Wayde holds a bachelor’s degree in social science education and a master’s in management from Minot State University.
JESSICA DEVAAL - has been involved with CTE in North Dakota since 2007 as a high school instructor before joining the ND Department of Career & Technical Education in June 2016. She is the State Leader for North Dakota Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and coordinates all FBLA state events and is a member of the FBLA National Education Committee. Jessica has a bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of North Dakota.
