GNDC Launches Legislative Scorecard, Names 99 Chamber Champions
BISMARCK - The Greater North Dakota Chamber (GNDC) today launched the GNDC Legislative Report - How They Voted. This scorecard, initially presented exclusively to GNDC membership, reviews the voting record of legislators from the 67th Legislative Assembly on business-related legislation.
GNDC President and CEO, Arik Spencer stated, “GNDC has a rich history of engagement during the legislative session and has been publishing a scorecard for decades. This report continues to be a tool that helps GNDC members and the business community have a clear and objective view of how our elected officials are voting on issues specific to our state’s business climate and North Dakota's economic success.”
The 2021 Legislative Report examines action on 29 bills that specifically relate to GNDC’s three priorities - business climate protection or advancement, workforce solutions, and smart infrastructure investments. Lawmakers who earned an index score of 85% or greater, demonstrating strong alignment with GNDC, are given the distinction of Chamber Champion.
Spencer continued, “This session saw an 8% increase in legislators who achieved Chamber Champion designation, equaling 99 in total. Eighteen of these individuals received scores of 100%. These are individuals who work to understand the ongoing issues facing businesses in our state; we appreciate their efforts, communications, and collaborations.”
