After the ringing in the New Year in January, the 68th Legislative Assembly will convene! Can we hear a wahoo for the excitement of new year, new laws! However, before this excitement, a few things need to happen so that legislators can hit the ground running.
Next week, Dec 5 - 7, legislators will come to the Capitol for Organizational Session. Here is a rundown of what will happen:
- On the agenda for Newly elected legislators from this past November election
- Sworn in for official duty
- Training/orientation
- Governor Burgum will present the executive budget and revenue proposals
- Committees established (more on this next week)
- Budget Section will meet
- Rules/operating procedures will be reviewed, amended, and adopted
- Everyone will get to pick their seats!
Deadlines will start to apply! Heading into the end of December, executive agencies and Supreme Court have a filing deadline of December 8. December 16 for legislators to submit health insurance mandate bills to Legislative Council.
The first day of the legislative session is Tuesday, January 3rd. GNDC is all about session - we will be there!
