GNDC Expands Team to Strengthen Member Engagement and Government Affairs

The Greater North Dakota Chamber (GNDC) is pleased to announce the addition of two experienced professionals who will further strengthen the organization’s work on behalf of North Dakota businesses. Laurie Schaffer has joined GNDC as Member & Marketing Coordinator, and Kory Peterson has joined as Government Affairs Specialist.

These additions reflect GNDC’s continued investment in delivering value to members and advancing a strong, pro-business climate across the state.

    ENHANCING MEMBER RELATIONS
Laurie Schaffer brings more than 25 years of experience serving non-profit and member-based organizations, with a career rooted in marketing execution, customer service, and operational coordination. Her work has consistently centered on strengthening member relationships and delivering measurable value.

Through roles with organizations including Impact Dakota and Burleigh County, Schaffer has led marketing initiatives, coordinated complex projects, and supported high-profile efforts requiring precision, consistency, and collaboration. She brings a disciplined attention to brand integrity and a practical, team-focused approach to execution.

    STRENGTHENING ADVOCACY EFFORTS
Kory Peterson joins GNDC with experience in municipal governance, strategic planning, and legislative advocacy. He most recently worked with the North Dakota League of Cities during the 2025 Legislative Session, advocating on issues impacting local governments and business operations.

Previously, Peterson served as Mayor of Horace from 2016 to 2024, leading the city through a period of rapid growth as its population nearly tripled. His firsthand experience navigating economic expansion, infrastructure demands, and policy development provides valuable perspective to GNDC’s government affairs efforts.

In his role, Peterson will support GNDC’s advocacy strategy and work to ensure the interests of North Dakota businesses remain effectively represented.

    BUILDING FOR BUSINESS
As North Dakota’s premier business advocacy association, GNDC is solely dedicated to promoting and defending the free enterprise system on behalf of businesses of every size and in every sector. Strategic team growth is essential to advancing that mission.

With the addition of Schaffer and Peterson, GNDC is well positioned to enhance member value, strengthen advocacy efforts, and continue driving policies that support growth, competitiveness, and long-term economic opportunity across North Dakota.
