National Civics Bee® Essay Deadline Extended — Let’s Ensure North Dakota Is Represented
GNDCMonday, February 2, 2026
North Dakota students now have more time to participate in the 2026 National Civics Bee®—and this extension comes at a critical moment.
Due to the widespread impact of recent winter storms, including school closures, mail delays, and power and internet outages, the National Civics Bee® has approved a one-time, nationwide extension of the essay submission deadline.
📅 NEW DEADLINE: Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Hawaii Standard Time)
WHY THIS MATTERS FOR ND
Last year marked the first time North Dakota had a student advance in the National Civics Bee®. This year, our goal is clear: ensure North Dakota is represented on the national stage again.
The Bee gives middle school students the opportunity to:- Apply civics to real-world community challenges
- Develop critical thinking and leadership skills
- Compete for recognition and significant education-focused prizes
