GNDC has a boots-on-the-ground team for this short Special Legislative Session.
The Session started with Governor Armstrong’s 12 minute State of the State Address.
GNDC's favorite points:
- Emphasis on strong communities, stable workforces, economic opportunities, enhanced quality of life
- Baseball analogies
- Encouraging legislators to take a smart and thoughtful approach to utilizing federal resources
In addition to working out how the $199M Rural Health Transformation Program will be spent and associated policy changes, legislators will be considering a few bills:
- School Lunches – 2 bills
- Property Tax Discount Process
- PSC litigation funding/ND Information Technology ADA compliance funding
- Medical facility emergency operating loan program
- Few other items (1 celebration resolution, UND land sale authorization)
We anticipate action to move quick and will give a report back when the dust clears. One thing is clear – smart resource delivery and quality of place will be the guideposts for the actions being decided on.
