Workforce Strategy Starts Before Hiring

If workforce is your top growth constraint, the solution doesn’t begin with a job posting. It begins earlier — in classrooms, with educators, and through direct business engagement.

That’s why Marie Buchli (Junior Achievement) and Retha Mattern (Lignite Energy Council) are helping open the GrowND: Workforce Showcase on April 21 in Bismarck.

• Marie will highlight how Junior Achievement connects employers to students through programs focused on work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy — shaping career awareness early.
• Retha will showcase the long-running Teacher Education Seminar, which has equipped more than 4,000 educators with firsthand industry knowledge and classroom-ready materials, influencing thousands of students across the region.

Both represent upstream workforce strategy — strengthening the pipeline before hiring begins.


The GrowND Workforce Showcase features rapid, 10-minute presentations from workforce leaders across education, industry, and government, followed by networking and resource tables. Current speakers are available online, with additional highlights shared weekly.

If growth depends on talent, this is time well spent.
