    August 4 Press Conference Summary

    Current COVID-19 Case Numbers in North Dakota: 6,933 total positive cases, 1,111 active confirmed cases, 5,715 recovered, 107 deaths, 51 hospitalized
    Speakers: Governor Burgum, Chancellor Mark Hagerott, Erica Solberg: Student Representative- State Board of Higher Education.   

    Focus: The North Dakota University System is testing students before returning to campus.

    Additional points of note:
    • Emergency Commission approved $320 million of CARES Act funding for Unemployment Insurance and public health initiatives. Still needs to receive final approval from Legislative Budget Section.
    • Economic Resiliency Grant (ERG) Application site launch targeted for next week.    

    Other Issues Covered – North Dakota Census is currently at a 62% response rate which is below the national average. Go to www.2020census.gov to complete the Census.
