    CEO Roundtable held in Fargo

On Wednesday, June 19, GNDC held a CEO Roundtable in Fargo. The event was hosted by North Dakota State College of Science Division for Workforce Affairs. Over eighty business leaders were in attendance.

The morning kicked off with a welcome address from Tony Grindberg, NDSCS Vice President of Workforce Affairs. Presentations before lunch included a session on demographics and workforce trend impacts from Mark Schill of Praxis Strategy Group. Followed by a session from Jill Berg, with Spherion Staffing Services, on employee engagement via talent optimization.

The afternoon began with a panel presentation on HB 1171, the Skilled Workforce Scholarship and Loan Repayment Program, renamed to ND Career Builders. Panelist were Dr. John Richmond – NDSCS President, Don Shilling – Chairman of General Equipment and Supplies, Inc and Mike Egan – Senior Director of Microsoft’s TechSpark team. Panelists discussed known specifics for the program and shared their industry perspectives. HB 1171’s passing was one of GNDC’s top legislative priorities and we continue to be heavily vested in the development efforts of the program. Wednesday wrapped up with Kimberly Wold Janke of Flint Group, presenting on employment branding.

“The CEO Roundtable events bring company leaders together for an invigorating exchange of information, ideas and insight. We planned this particular event to address issues currently facing companies to inspire practical approaches as well as provide the opportunity to network,” remarked Arik Spencer, GNDC CEO and president.
