INFRASTRUCTURE WEEK: Energy, Transmission & Data Centers
GNDCWednesday, January 7, 2026This event is part of our Infrastructure Week Webinar Series—designed to inform GNDC audiences about the infrastructure decisions, investments, and policies that directly shape North Dakota’s economic growth and business competitiveness. Thank you to Premier Sponsor, Chevron.
MONDAY: JANUARY 12: Energy, Transmission & Data Centers
North Dakota’s energy landscape is changing fast. As natural gas production increases, the need for new pipeline capacity grows with it. Without adequate takeaway infrastructure, resources remain stranded in the west—limiting oil production, reducing economic output, and weakening long-term competitiveness. At the same time, expanded access to natural gas improves reliability for communities and industry across the state.
This session examines the coordinated effort required to expand pipelines, transmission systems, and energy infrastructure that support North Dakota’s growth. Speakers will discuss shipper commitments, grid capacity challenges, and the rising energy demand from data centers.
CONVERSATION KEY POINTS:
> Rising natural gas production and the economic need for new pipeline capacity
> How limited takeaway infrastructure constrains oil output and statewide opportunity
> The role of major shippers and long-term commitments in project development
> Transmission constraints and long-term grid planning
> Energy demands of data centers and the competitive advantages they bring
> How coordinated infrastructure investment supports long-term growth
This discussion highlights why aligned planning across energy sectors is essential to keeping North Dakota competitive.
