Legacy Fund looking for public input
House Majority Leader Chet Pollert and Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner are chair and vice-chair of the Legacy Fund Earnings Committee. The goal of this committee is to take a critical look at policy around the Legacy Fund, more specifically the earnings. On Tuesday and Wednesday in Fargo, the committee is looking to get the public’s input about what to do with the Legacy Fund and its earnings.
GNDC encourages the business community to attend the interim hearing and express their thoughts on how to manage the Legacy Fund and its earnings. Two weeks ago we heard from Senator Rich Wardner, who believes using a portion of the earnings to fund infrastructure across the state would be smart policy. What are the opinions of the business community? These listening sessions are your opportunity.
The committee hearing will be Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12-13, Diederich Atrium, Harry D. McGovern Alumni Center, North Dakota State University, 1241 North University Drive, Fargo. The public comment period will be November 12 from 6:40 pm to 7:40 pm. At 9:15 on November 13th the Director of the Alaska Division of Legislative Finance will give a presentation regarding the use of the Alaska Permanent Fund, which is similar to North Dakota’s Legacy Fund.
