  • ​2024 Policy Summit: Our Most Comprehensive Event Yet

    The Greater North Dakota Chamber (GNDC) is thrilled to present the 2024 Policy Summit, featuring a record-breaking number of speakers on issues impacting the future of North Dakota. Set in a new location (Bismarck Event Center), this year’s event offers a full day of discussions on the key issues monopolizing the business community's minds.

    The day begins at 9:15 a.m. with Leadership Remarks from Nicole Kivisto (MDU Resources Group) and Arik Spencer (GNDC), followed by a panel on *Navigating the Global Stage: Foreign Investment and Trade*. Moderated by Drew Combs (ND Trade Office), the discussion includes insights from Commissioner Doug Goehring (ND Dept of Ag), Allan Edwards (Consulate General of Canada), and James Sweeney (Weather Modification International, Inc.), with Peter Matthaei (DakotaMB) providing a business response.

    The first *Ballot Brief* at 11:00 a.m. tackles the Recreational Marijuana Measure, featuring Steve Bakken (New Economic Frontier) and Molly Barnes (Northern Improvement Co.). This is followed by a panel on *Childcare Solutions*, exploring its impact on North Dakota's workforce, moderated by Anna Nelson (Williston Area Chamber of Commerce).

    In the afternoon, discussions continue with another *Ballot Brief* on the Constitutional Change Measure, and a panel on *The Ongoing Tax Discussion for ND*, moderated by Andrea Pfennig (GNDC).

    Keynote speaker Lynn Helms, former Director of the Department of Mineral Resources, will reflect on *Innovation Over Regulation*, with insights from Richard Glynn and Emily O'Brien (Bioscience Association of North Dakota). Following this, a Mini Panel on occupational licensure will delve into its impact on the workforce with the context policy, talent attraction/retention, and interim findings.

    The day wraps up with a final keynote from John Kirchner (U.S. Chamber) on *National Political Possibilities*, the GNDC Business Leadership Award presentation, and a PAC Party for ND Chamber PAC contributors.
