Standing Strong for Business: Message from GNDC President and CEO

The Greater North Dakota Chamber (GNDC) has been working to make North Dakota a great place to do business since 1924, and a lot has happened in that time. GNDC has been there for our members through good and bad times, including the Great Depression, wars, and the Great Recession. Today we continue to stand strong for North Dakota business as both a resource and advocate in the face of COVID-19 and low oil prices.

Two weeks ago, we created a COVID-19 Business Information hub page. This page has the latest information and resources, including links to existing state and federal resources, summaries of COVID-19 bills passed or proposed by Congress and the White House, and a whole host of other useful information. We have also partnered with the North Dakota Dept. of Commerce and Gov. Burgum to host weekly COVID-19 ND Business Briefs, so you can hear directly from experts about tools available to help businesses through this uncertain time.

We've also been vigorously fighting for our members. We've had daily communication with North Dakota's congressional delegation on all phases of the federal response to COVID-19. Daily interaction with state government leaders on the issues or concerns of N.D.'s business community, including urging extreme caution about any stay-at-home orders. Finally, working in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and state chambers across the country, we've urged congressional leaders to swiftly pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (phase 3 COVID-19 response).

We know that for many GNDC members, remote working and social distancing are the new norms, while others are temporarily shutting their doors or fighting for their businesses' very survival. Please know that you are not alone, GNDC stands with you and fights for you. If you have a question, concern, or want to share an idea, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at ndchamber@ndchamber.com

    Sincerely,

    Arik Spencer
    GNDC President and CEO
